Who's getting excited for the Big Garden Birdwatch? The 2023 Birdwatch takes place from the 27th to the 29th January, and the Green&Blue team are poised and ready!
If you've not taken part before then believe us, you should!! The Birdwatch is organised by the RSPB, and is fun, free and for everyone. It's a super way to get wowed by your local wildlife and to really see who's visiting your garden or local green space. So beginners, experts, Green&Blue team and all those somewhere in the middle, get involved and get out to count the birds!
Simply sign up over on the RSPB website and commit to spending an hour between 27 and 29 January 2023, counting the birds you see in that time. Each year thousands of people get involved and become citizen scientists for an hour. The data collected is used by the RSPB to monitor how bird species are faring in the face of the nature and climate crisis we are in, and as if that wasn't reason enough it really is a wonderful opportunity to get closer to nature and to engage children, friends and families in something they may not normally take the time to enjoy.
If you need to make sure your garden is Big Garden Birdwatch ready then head to the Green&Blue website and order your birdfeeders and birdfood today (!) - a Birdwatch is even more fun when your birdfeeders are beautiful!
